Credit cards and Christmastime

Published by under Holiday Magic,Work

Well. I have this credit card. And it only has a 300.00 limit, which is a good thing for me. Because I usually run it pretty close to the max. And that’s where it’s at right now. Maxed out. It’s a good thing I don’t have a card with a 1500.00 limit anymore, huh? Yep, credit cards are evil. But you all knew that, right?

It’s only October and Mom is already pushing for a Christmas list. I’m really pissed off at myself because I’ve been wandering around for the past couple of weeks thinking about all of the things I’d like to put on my Christmas list and now I can’t remember any of them. The Man is the same way. He’s mentioned several things that he wanted but since neither of us wrote them down now we can’t remember what they were. That’s bad.

I got my little Sailor Moon figures in the mail and it was kind of scary. The guy didn’t tell me that I had to assemble these figures so I got little bags of PVC body parts. Looked like an ugly threat :). But I got them all put together and now they are adorning my desk with my 9″ Sailor Pluto doll looming over them looking menacing.

Tonight I want to go to Bed Bath & Beyond and see if they have any duvets that will match what I am looking for. I want a dark brown duvet with no froo froo frilly crap on it. And we need new sheets. And I’ll see if they have curtains on sale too. Since the cats have been allowed into the bedroom they are going to snap off the venetian blinds by peeking around them. Plus I just don’t like venetian blinds anyways. They collect dust. Bad.

Today is typical Monday at work. Going slowly. Tomorrow I get to wear jeans and come in and do manual labor with the rest of my team. Should be a pleasant break from the norm.

I am really really not excited today, so I better quit while I’m ahead.

I am dying

Published by under Friends,The Man

That’s right. Dying. I had fun last night, but I need to stop staying up until 1:30 AM on the nights Vicki and I get together. It doesn’t help that Mondays have also become the official “party night” as well as our date night. Last night we partied with the Captain. The Captain was definitely at my house. All night. I heard his maniacal laughter as he taunted “Arrr, Matey! Yer gonna drink me rum!” So I drank the rum and we busted out my cassingles (remember cassingles?) and listened to power ballads from the early 90′s. It was fun. I was asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow.

I think The Man had a small party with his friends last night as well. I don’t know what time he got home, as I was unconcious, but this morning he asked me to reset the alarm for 9 AM, something he rarely does. He usually tries to get to work by 9:30, which obviously was not going to happen today. I haven’t seen him yet because I’m still sitting in on training, so I’ll have to hunt him out and ask how D&D went.

Well my eyes are sandy and I need a cig, so maybe I’ll write more in a while.

Sailor Moon nirvana

Published by under Media,The Fam,Work

OK well if you read the last posting you know that I was bemoaning the childish dialogue of the American version of Sailor Moon. Well, lucky me I have a whole bunch of Sailor Moon DVDs that I’ve been buying. I never bothered to turn on subtitles because I assumed they would just be the American dialogue. BUT! I turned on the subtitles on a whim and they are the English translations of the Japanese dialogue as it was meant to be! It’s scary how much the show was dumbed down for American audiences. Whole conversations are completely different. So, for the past few days I’ve been reviewing all of the episodes I currently have on DVD (the entire S season, and the first 12 episodes of the SuperS season, plus the 3 movies) and falling in love with the anime! I watch them with the Japanese sound and English subtitles, and I have to crack up. The whole show is in Japanese, except for the transformation phrases and attacks. So, these characters are chattering along in Japanese, and I’m reading subtitles, and suddenly I hear them say things I understand like “Moon Cosmic Power, Make Up!” It really is kind of amusing. I mean, does that not translate to Japanese for some reason?

I know the 3rd DVD in the SuperS season is in stores, and that they have been releasing the R season on DVD. I’m thinking Christmas presents!!! I look at all my VHS tapes in disgust because they are the DIC versions and of course, I can’t turn on the subtitles on a VHS tape. So, I’m going to slowly build up my DVD collection and then give my VHS tapes to the daughter of a friend who once told me “You are SO LUCKY that you have all of this Sailor Moon stuff!” Cute, huh?

By the way, if anyone wants to send me the StarS season on DVD, which has not been sold in America yet, please feel free. If you e-mail me I’ll let you know where to send it :-)

OK for those of you who don’t care about my Sailor Moon Joy, I have been sitting in on a Voice Care Trouble class this week at work. We are bringing voice support to our call center, and the three trainers here need to know all about it so that we don’t have to keep making people fly out here to train it for us. There are two gents staying here who came out from our center in Utah, so we’ve been wining and dining them. Luckily, they are both cool guys, otherwise the business dinner would have been excruciating.

Dad e-mailed me to let me know he got home all right, despite the impending sense of doom he had been carrying with him. I need to get back over to my cousin’s house sometime soon. I need to stop forgetting she exists between family functions, especially since she and her family are the only relatives from my dad’s family that I feel really at ease with.

Last night The Man was out taking his turn at wining and dining our visitors, so I went home, plopped in a Sailor Moon DVD, and ironed, did laundry, and picked up the living room a bit. Not exactly a fun night, but all that stuff needed to be done, so I got to feel a sense of accomplishment. By the by, I took pictures of my house, so when I get them developed and scanned, the house floor plan will be linked to all the pictures! Hurrah!

Um. . . I ran out of steam. More later.
